Alright so I took the PSAT and I got a 164 (no idea what the projected score is). I am buying practice books and other study materials and I am definitely making sure my SAT score is much higher.

But back to the point, when do you guys think the best time to take the SAT and ACT? I'll be taking a lot of AP classes so I'll have to keep in mind that the AP tests are in May.

(from the assumption that you’re a current sophomore and taking the SAT next year)

I think the best time is to take it once in December (so after you get your PSAT scores back so you can study on specific topics you need to work on) and then in June if you want to improve your score, because you can study throughout the rest of the year and have some time after APs to prepare some more. That’s what I plan on doing, at least.

Thank you @pthep2

I’d say Dec in Junior year, that gives you a full 3 months to study for the March SAT if you want to retake, and if all else fails you can take it again Oct of Senior Year.

March --> June --> Fall of Senior year if necessary

Yea, november or december of your junior year seems to be ideal for your first try. Retake it march and if necessary, take it a third time in the fall of your senior year. Good luck!

Thank you very much @DaneBrick and @d0texe

Jan -> June -> October seems best if you’re a slacker like me.

I actually suggest October of your junior year, after studying over the summer. I’m really glad that’s what I did, since I got that out of the way early and didn’t have to worry about it again (assuming you get a high score your first try).
