When is the best time to take the SAT for the first time as an incoming Junior?

I vote for December of junior year! It’s not during finals, unlike the January SAT, and it’s right after a week of break (Thanksgiving), which gives you time to study. In January, even if you studied over Christmas break, all those skills will be a month old. And I don’t buy the idea that the two-month difference in what you learned in class will make that much of a difference; hopefully juniors have had math through algebra 2, so it comes down to the vocab and writing skills. And I think those can be improved better by personally studying for the SAT than by learning in class, anyway.

My two cents. Any input on the December curve compared to January? After all, if December is taken by a lot of irresponsible seniors who didn’t get the SAT done with earlier, shouldn’t the curve be pretty good too?
