My daughter was lured by the free Leadership Application to apply to Allegheny, and has been accepted with a Trustee scholarship, although we don’t know yet for how much. We had not visited Allegheny before, but are interested in doing so now.

When is the best/worst time to visit? Should we visit in the winter, to get the true sense of the worst of the weather? Or wait until the spring?

What are the best and worst aspects of the school?

@sacchi - The answer to your question about the best time to visit depends on where you’re from and if you can easily make multiple visits. If you live south of the Mason-Dixon & want to see the worst case, then by all means visit in … February. Fall would have been the best time to experience Allegheny IMO, when the trees are changing color & the chill is in the air. Our D visited in Summer which fit in with our schedule to see many different colleges … though we did not see students in class at the time. Before making a final decision, D visited again, staying overnight on campus & attending a class. That was the clincher for her. Good Luck !!!

There is also the Trustees Scholars weekend which is end Feb beginning of March, I was told.
We will visit then. D just received letter of acceptance today-
is very happy.

We’re from NJ. I looked up some weather info and it looks like NW PA is colder and snowier than we are used to, but it isn’t like we’re from a southern climate. I didn’t know there was a Trustees Scholars weekend - that is good to know, and perhaps a good time to visit. Thanks for the info.

The acceptance letter was in a medium-sized yellow envelope (5 x 8 inches or so), with an official looking college seal on the back. Good luck to those still waiting to hear.
