<p>Okay, so common app deadline for applications due Jan 1st, 2008 is at 11:59 EST or can it be 1/8/07 11:59 Pacific Time aka 3:00AM on Jan 2nd??? </p>
<p>I'm on the East Coast and those extra three hours would be stellar. Thought I'd ask this before I take a shower and spent the entire 20 mins panicking. </p>
<p>(The schools i'm applying to today are on the east coast and I know U Chicago has this thing where the deadline is 11:59 1/2/08 at the last place in the world - ha i forgot where)</p>
<p>commonapp runs on eastern time and also since you're applying for schools on the east coast, i'd advise that you submit by eastern time.</p>
<p>unless you email the school and they let you submit in your timezone.</p>

<p>I've <strong>heard from others</strong> that the commonapp doesn't freeze out after the deadline... and that some colleges allow a little leeway, but better not to risk it</p>
<p>so if I'm in the Eastern Time Zone applying to a school in the Western Time Zone, can that app go out at 3:00 AM?</p>

<p>Do colleges give leeway or not? As long as the supplemental form is accesible in the common app after midnight I may be okay.</p>
<p>After all your work, why take the risk? Submit your application within the next hour, and enjoy the rest of your break =)</p>
<p>I think it is a really bad habit to do things at the very last minute and you really should work to break the habit. </p>
<p>There will come a time in college where you will have professors, internship and job application deadlines where even if you are a minute late, you will be closed out and out of the money. </p>
<p>My D just had a professor this past term who downgraded her paper a from an A to an A- because she missed the deadline by 2 minutes The professor is also the department chair in her major so who was she really going to complain to? I listened to her vent, but the net-net was that she was wrong and did not follow instructions and got dinged for it.</p>
<p>^^ Same thing just happend to my son, who is also in college except he was given 0 credit for it being late!. there is NO FORGIVNESS once you're in college, so sybbie's advice should be taken to heart.</p>
<p>The common app doesn't freeze after the deadline passes, but I hope you still submitted it... Some schools are forgiving, other aren't. I suppose you have to know the college that you're applying to.</p>
<p>a cautionary tale from one of your own (who got lock out of submitting their application)</p>
<p>i started to attempt submitting at about 8:43... my cornell and stanford ones still went in late due to really retarded "system" errors. for one of my stanford short essays.. the app said i had about 3 characters left until the limit.. but when i hit submit.. it said it was too long or it didn't say anything at all about the essay being messed up.. it just said: supplemental common app for stanford.....and then (prompt here). i would look at the text box trying to figure out why i couldn't submit it and how it was too long when the box doesn't let you go beyond 1800 characters... O_O</p>
