I am a high school junior right...going to be a senior this fall and i am so eager to get started on the app process.

I want to submit app and hear like ASAP. Can I submit app as early as aug-end or first week of sept? If i do, when would i hear back from mich?

Advice pLease!

I think my school didn’t start sending transcripts until Sept 15, so no one really applied before then.

As long as it’s before Nov. 1, I don’t think your chances will increase by submitting it earlier. Just start working on your essays and don’t worry about it.

Must be in by October end of month to hear by Dec 24th. We got transcripts end of junior year and sent in application mid-August and still did not hear to mid-december.

Not true. The first application submitted is the first application read. This year, people were accepted before the November 1st deadline. If you want to be among the first applicants, I suggest applying by October 1.

You can start filling out your info as soon as the application for your start year is on-line. Once school starts in the fall, I’m sure your guidance office won’t mind pulling your “stuff” together and get everything submitted by the end of September. Our in-state district councils kids apply to UMich to do just that - get everything finished up ASAP after the school year starts. If your schools offices are open in August, they may be willing to help you then, just ask if you want to get done earlier than September. I don’t think August vs. September will make much if any difference.

When are the 2010 - 211 applications available on line? How EARLY can one apply.

The senior class commitments, independent student, engineering teams etc, Fall is insane - really hope the applications are available this summer.

College Counseling office is screaming to start essays in summer so that writing office can edit starting in September. Hence original poster’s question.

A) you can answer some of your own questions. Send an e-mail to umich or search the website and see if they tell you went the app is on line.
B) Ask your “screaming” College Couseling office when they will be ready to send transcripts, etc.
C) If you need recommendations, did you get those before school got out? If not, then WHEN you can apply will depend on when YOU can get your recommendations I think.
D) It IS a good idea to start working on your essay this summer…most kids don’t or won’t. Our district has the kids refine their essays as the first assignment in Sr. English or AP English so our kids aren’t finishing their essays until September anyway.

All I can tell you is A) my kids’ high school offices are closed most of August and B) if the kids don’t get their recommendations done junior year they won’t get them until school starts in the fall unless they track the teachers down over the summer and the teachers are willing to write them during the summer so most of “our” kids are sending apps in mid-late September or early October.

Take a deep breath…all will be fine. We have a very highly rated school district that sends alot of kids to Ann Arbor and they manage to get there with apps early in the fall.

When will we know what essays we can write? Are they the same as last year?

They should be up on their website…

[Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Application Written Responses](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/essay/)

Look it up kids!!! Lots of the questions you are asking are on the website. You are going to do alot of research in college and need to discover things on your own and if you are thinking about UMich you need to be alittle self sufficient! Sorry to scold, but…

My counselor told me that the first day to apply for colleges in general is September 14th. Michigan does rolling admission, but the earlier you apply doesn’t necessarily mean the better chance you will get in- it just means that you get your reply earlier.

Also, I know some people got into Michigan during October, but the lady at my career center also told me that Michigan doesn’t read its first batch until October 31st. Conflicting…I know, but as long as you apply on September 14th, you should be fine =P hehehe

It will depend on your school how fast they will send out the transcripts and rec letters… and how fast umich will receive them… but you want everything in by the end of September for the best chance at admission.

All right thanks guys! That helps a lot!

Appreciate it!
