When is the end of Indoc

If Indoc ends at two weeks is that July 22nd? If Sunday they are allowed a second five minute call would they not have their cell phones back by then to use anytime Sunday? Do they get watches, electric razors etc at the end of Indoc or Sunday?

Sorry alittle confused on my time table.

Based on what the Superintendent said on the 5th, Indoc is 20 days and then they go into academics. From the regimental calendar (below) classes start on the 25th. So, I would guess Indoc ends on the 24th.

Thanks. It is a bit confusing because the Indo Parade is on Friday the 20th and many of the upperclass members will be getting back to school on the 21st so us new parents are confused!

Hmmm. You guys correct me.

I think CellPhones are given back at Recognition (whenever upperclass elects to do it-- Mar/Apr/May-type timeframe). Before that, I'd heard somebody goes out with a big tray of cellphones on Sunday, allowing Plebes to call home or GF or whatever for a while. They are collected again, and Plebe won't see them for another week.

Watches: I don't remember anything about when they're given back. Is it after Indoc? elsewhen?

Ipods: I haven't heard about this either, although I suspect Recognition. In fact, I'd be just as happy saying "Can't send it to you. Your little brother's playing with it and has wiped out everything that was there before and replaced it. How do you like the Barney(the dinosaur) song?" -- Ok, maybe not. Don't want a candidate to go awol and make it to NC just to pound his brother. :D

Hmmm. Did he even TAKE his watch? Gotta go look for it.

hmmmmm was under the impression that cell phones were okay to have after indoc...not just use (or get caught, hence the need for bluetooth).....hmmm :p

Indoc officially ends on Sunday. My plebe year, cell phones were not allowed until Acceptance Day (Parent's weekend) and even then, we were limited to Sunday use only, outside standing at attention. Between Indoc and Acceptance Day, we were allowed to use the pay phones. Now, that's what the rules were. As far as what actually happens. . .

Watches, electric razors, and other similar amenities are given back after Indoc. Ipods (and all music for that matter) is not usually granted (on a limited) basis until Acceptance Day and full use is usually not allowed until Recognition.

Just talked to my daughter (the famous 4th Co. DI). Indoc ends with the parade on Friday, but they have something (now I can't remember for sure what it was, I think it was a Regimental Inspection) on Saturday. Sunday is church and phone calls again. Rest of the classes return. Monday is get ready for school - get their laptops, notebooks, pictures, physical fitness testing, etc., lots of stuff. Tuesday I think is more get ready. I think the sports teams have meetings, etc. that day. Wednesday starts classes.

Phones and ipods are not supposed to be used until after Acceptance, but I think they'll give them back this Sunday.

Can we send packages (cookies, etc.) for our child (as opposed to the DI's) after Sunday?

Sure MMAMom. Send 'em on! If you send one Friday, the kid should get it at the first of the week & thank you 100 times over. This will be the start of a beautiful relationship with your local postal worker. They will know you by name soon & start asking you what you're sending this week. :D

How many cookies do you think we should send? How many are they sharing with?

you can use your cell phone when ever after acceptance day... but you can use your cell phone on the weekends before that... as for Ipods... every one had them... just dont get caught using it...

So, if we mail shavers, cell phones, etc., when should we schedule them to arrive? Monday of next week?

yea you can send them so they arrive by monday or early next week.

the plebes won't be allowed to USE cell phones, ipods, hand held electronics, etc. right out of indoc, but it doesn't mean they can't have them...

In my company plebe year we all had our phones on us at all time, but plebes must keep their doors open until 2200. Therefore, it's hard to get away with using them, that being said, after 2200 the door is closed...but don't forget the senior (OOD) who walks around at 2315 and 0100 to make sure the plebes are there. One kid in our company got caught using his phone and then they took them all from us, locked them up and gave them back every sunday to use....then back to the locker that night. There are some drawers (personal drawers) that MIDN can not open in anyones room because they're personal...So if an ipod is in there...they can't find it. The plebes will start to learn the ins and outs, its part of the learning process and in my opinion critical to the academy education.

KPM: My son wrote me and said I can attend mass on Sunday which I heard starts at 10:00. Since Indoc ends on Friday, would I be able to see him for a couple of minutes after mass and give him things such as cookies and his phone?

For church parents are allowed to attend and then the plebes are allowed to see them and talk with them fore about 5 mins untill acceptance day and after acceptance day you can spend all the time u want with them. As for giving him goodies...this is essential!! Plebes are genaerally not allowed food in their rooms but...just make sure u put them in a sealed cardboardbox that the upperclassmen can't see in...we all know whats in those boxes but i don't think anyone will say anything, after all if you can't see whats in the box then you don't know whats in there if you catch my drift.

What about the phone and some photos I know he would enjoy having? Would he be allowed to receive those too if I gave them to him on Sunday?

Also does anyone know what are the benefits of advance buying the football tickets? Can the games get sold out? Is reserved seating seat better than regular seating? Sorry, but I'm new to all this.

They can have photos, just not display them (I believe until after recognition?). Yes you can give him the phone. Depending on the company he's in, they may take them away or let them keep them with the rule only to be used on Sundays.

Our family has never bought the football tickets in advance (my nephew's been playing for 4 years). There always seems to be plenty that day. But I don't know about you "newbies" - if you're bringing the girlfriends, HS friends, grandparents, aunts, uncles.....LOL Maybe I need to get mine in advance this year. Parking is more the problem!! Wish they'd sell tickets for spots near the football field! I don't think the reserved seating is any better than the regular - you can even try to get close to where your plebe is sitting, although it's better to try to get down near where they'll be doing the pushups when KP scores! That's the real show that day!

SupportMom: Did you ever hear how many cookies we should send? I want to try to get some in the mail today...

No, I did not hear a number on how many cookies to send. Perhaps someone will give us some insight today. I am thinking we send to everyone in their 2011 company, at least 60 plus some extra. I have no idea how many there are in the entire 3rd company.

I thought I would send cookies on Monday so they would not sit in the post office the whole weekend. So far everything I have shipped USPS is arriving in two days (I am tracking). That does not mean my son will get the package in two days as I understand. I did send some power bars yesterday hoping they would arrive on Monday.

That's a lot of cookies! Over 300. I was planning to make brownies. It might take all day to make 25 dozen. My daughter received brownies 2x at camp this summer (from her aunt.) She said they arrived in perfect condition after traveling fron MD-NC. I know to pack in hard mailing carton, but any tips on how to wrap? Just in foil? Or, do you put in a plastic container, too? Use bubble wrap?
