When is the Harvard freshman accepted weekend for 2010?

Just wondering when the dates are, I hear they're mid-late April? Does anyone know the specific dates for this year?

Yep, April 24-26. I’m hosting :)

What do people do on that weekend?

Do they offer travel grants? If so, are they transferable to other dates? I know I won’t be able to make those dates, but would I be able to visit another weekend?

shoot, that’s the same as Princeton’s. well at least their second one (which I was planning on going to). Does harvard only ahve one (on hte low chance I get the chance to go)

^ A tad presumptuous there my friend.

unless he/she got in through questbridge?

jersey: not presumptuous at all.

^ okay, cease the argumentation :stuck_out_tongue: best of luck to everyone.

and yes, as far as I know, Harvard only has one. though of course you can visit whenever you want.

for the prefrosh weekend, do we stay with students or do we book hotels?

^with students.

Yes, they offer travel grants. No, they are not transferable to other dates. But you can visit whenever you want on your own dime.

Damn, HYP have theirs on similar weekend’s. Oh well. I guess I’m not likely to get into all 3 anyway!

^

You could fit them all in. And fingers crossed that you do :)

Yale: 19 - 21.
Harvard: 24 - 26.
Princeton: 15 - 17 and 22 - 24 (2 dates).

Do you guys know what the weekend consists of? I’m guessing probably tours and what else?

Would it be possible to visit on just the 25th and 26th (i.e. miss the 24th) and still get the travel grant? I have a conflict on the 24th that I would really like to not miss…

I hosted a prefrosh once who did Yale, Princeton + Harvard visits consecutively… I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad idea to try it, but you certainly get to know some of your peers-to-be really well as you see them over and over again.

FWIW, I only went to the Harvard (and Duke) weekends… but Bulldog Days is supposed to be the most fun of them all.

@andromeda - There’s all sorts of stuff - concerts, dances, socials, class visits, tours, department open houses, panels with current students, extracurricular fairs, etc.

The order I suggest is go to Princeton, Yale, and then Harvard (that’s what I did). You really don’t want to rush these trips, so doing Princeton and Harvard back to back is too intense.

I enjoyed my Harvard prefrosh experience the most. Don’t be seduced by Yale’s nice dorms…the history and surrounding area are far inferior to that of Harvard’s (sorry Yale, I luv ya).

Let me say one thing: a semester in, almost all of us were saying how glad we were that we had picked Harvard, and we quietly realized how misguided we would have been if we had picked Yale. Many of my friends at Yale complain about Harvard and attack Harvard but here’s the thing - at Harvard, we seldom even talk about Yale…they’re not even on our minds!

And with that said, Yale’s a great school. You can’t go wrong there. It’s just that Harvard is much, much better in so many intangible ways.

I have heard that the rivalry is mutually reciprocated.
