I just got an email about thirty minutes ago from NU that said:

"Since January 1 falls on a Sunday this year, the application deadline for Regular Decision has been extended to midnight on January 2. If you intend to apply to Northwestern (and if you already have, don't worry that you're receiving this message - there is a lag of a couple of days between the Common Application and our system), note that only the Common Application and application fee (or applicable waiver) is due by Jan. 2. You will have additional time to submit the remaining components of the application (NU Supplement, etc.)."

Hey, I’m asking the exact same question over here. Checked up the website, it still says it’s due on January 2.

I’m also wondering, when they mentioned submission “by midnight on January 2”, are they referring to 23:59 January 1st or 23:59 January 2nd? Any clue?

I would assume 23:59 January 2nd - at least that is what it is for the rest of the colleges it seems (11:59 EST on the date it is due - any time on that day up until one minute before midnight eastern time).

Yeah, I was wondering when the Supplement is due as well. I searched it up and apparently last year they received an email saying that the supplement is due two weeks after their deadline. But I am not sure if it is correct or the same for us.

so does that mean that “only the Common Application and application fee” are due 23:59pm on january 2nd? while the supplement can be submitted later? And nothing is due 23:59pm january 1st…
argh deadlines are always so confusing

I got the same e-mail message mentioned above. I found “You will have additional time to submit the remaining components of the application” rather vague, so I’m going to send my supplement later today to be safe.

Last year there was a 2 week extension for the supplement (due the 15th instead of the 1st), but nothing shows up on the NU website

I tried calling them, but the admissions office is closed today

I really don’t think it’s due today though, because the email specifically says, “note that only the Common Application and application fee (or applicable waiver) is due by Jan. 2”

That means that at the very least, the supplement not due today

I also read something about the 2 week extension last year. But what about this year, I really need to know the deadline. Since the email says that you will have additional time for the supplement, when is the dealine? Does anyone know?

How about instead of wasting time searching for the deadline (that is most likely two weeks from now), why don’t you all just get the supplement done now and turn it in ASAP? Nothing good comes from procrastination…

I also got that email and I checked the NU website/common app but neither said that the supplements can be turned in late. I’m hoping it’s just that the websites haven’t updated the deadline and I can turn in the supplement later… I don’t feel confident about my essay.

In the end, they sent an email saying only the Common App and application fee is due tonight… They underlined the one part of an email for a reason… I’ll hold off on the supplement and continue making changes to it.

It’s 1/3 and I didn’t submit my supplement. I’m worried. Will I be okay if I submit it in a few days? That’s what the email read but I just have doubts.

Ahhh I also didn’t submit my supplement yet…think if they say so should be no doubt for it. I received an auto-reply letter after I asked the admission officer if there is an actual deadline for supplements.

that’s what the lady i spoke to said. I hope not though. it doesn’t make sense either…why would they extend it by 2 days? also…last year it was 2 weeks but they specifically said it. 0.0
