I am not applying to Dartmouth, but writing one for someone else... it's not going well, and I'm thinking it's a little too late to ask my peer to find someone to write for him. When are these due?

Everything should be postmarked by the due date (Jan 1), but they recognize that certain pieces of the application are out of the applicant’s hands (peer rec, secondary school report, etc.).

Why isn’t it going well? Just be honest. My friend did my peer rec and it was just honest about how we get along and things that he observed about me. It should come from the brain and the heart.

^same. Brain + Heart = Good Peer Eval Why did the person ask you to write a peer eval if you two aren’t even close (I’m assuming, since you’re having a hard time writing one). That puts you in an awkward position…

I sent out my peer eval via snail mail a couple weeks ago, I think (she had to go on vacation so she sealed the letter and signed the seal. I had to send it out myself. The “from” address is mine, but it shouldn’t matter too much)

As long as your eval is postmarked by Jan 1, you’re good to go

They will start reading your application without the peer rec.

As long as it doesn’t arrive REALLY late, peer recs can arrive several days after the Jan 1 deadline.

Speaking of peer evaluations, will the school notify if they haven’t received it? I sent mine via regular mail and I’m afraid it may get lost.

my friend isn’t sending one out until the third.
is this going to be a problem? what should i do?

I don’t even know if my friend has my peer eval done… I gave it to her 2 months in advance and she’s like my best friend and everything. I checked up on her last week and she said she’ll get it done soon and then I checked with her yesterday and she still hasn’t started… :(

I called her today but her phone’s off. :(

They won’t mind if the postmark date is less than a week late, but try your hardest to get it in ASAP.

My friend is sending mine by email within in the next week… I’m sure it won’t be a problem. :)

It’s alright of the peer rec to be a few days late. You should email the rec to the admissions office - it makes everything easier for you and for them.

You can also fax it to them as well if you cant email the form, if you want the form to get there faster than snail mail

Um, what’s the email for it?

“The best way to submit a Peer Evaluation is by emailing an attached PDF version of a completed evaluation to Admissions.Office@Dartmouth.edu with “Peer Eval” in the Subject line of the email. It’s best if the Peer Eval is typed.”
