It says on the website that the app for usc is due on dec. 1 for scholarship consideration. Does this include national merit scholarship?

The NMF scholarship is considered a Presidential Scholarship, and that has a Dec 1 deadline.

I believe that it doesn’t matter if you apply by the deadline for the NMF scholarship, because its a special Presidential. However, if you do, you may be bumped up to Trustee. What are your stats?

I probably will submit my app by dec. 1 just to be safe… but my essay is going to stink because I haven’t started it yet. Loncria, you can look for my chance threads. I have a 2230 SAT and 3.6/4.1 GPA. 222 on psat/nmsqt.

National Merit Semi finalists do NOT have to apply to USC by Dec 1, unless they want to be considered for one of the highly competitive Full tuition scholarships, which are awarded to outstanding applicants with tip-top stats that USC really wants AND who they feel will be accepted by the most competitive Universities. Only about 6% of early applicants are offered the chance to interview for the 1/2 and full tuition scholarships, which shows how competitive those scholarships really are.
NMSF’s who ARE accepted by USC AND declare USC to be their First Choice by the NMF deadline in Mid May, WILL be awarded a 1/2 Tuition National Merit scholarship by USC, in addition to $1000/ year by the NMF.

menloparkmom That is great news to hear thanks you very much

Show the LOVE to USC- they dont accept NMSF’s just because of that one “honor” - you need to let them know you WANT to go there. They KNOW that most NMSF’s will have lots of other options.
