Like right now you can chose what dorm you want but it isn't final. When are they finalized, does anyone know?

i've heard july... they'll mail you a packet with your room and hall assignment, along w/ roommate information. if anyone has any other specifics please post them, i only know what i've gathered from a couple of sources.

I heard you get it at orientation.

This is from the housing site on bealonghorn.com

We look forward to having you with us in the fall.

Check In Packets will be mailed in July.

where did you hear that you get it at orientation?

From a friend. He might be wrong.

when i log on to utdirect it just says "your application is active" ... "We offer housing contracts as space becomes available when: You are admitted to the University and pay your admission enrollment deposit." I've done all of that so i guess space isn't available??! shoud i start applying private??

Will you be a freshman, jype? I think that UT is more prone to offering freshman space in the dorms as it becomes available. I still think that space might open up after people finalize their plans for the summer and next fall.

Also, does it show on UTdirect that they have received your enrollment deposit?

At this point I would look into private just to know your options. Here's a site that might help: http://www.austindorms.com/ Or you might consider one of the cheaper coops in the area. Hope this helps.

yea i will b freshmen actually.. once they say ur "application is active" they'v recieved the deposit i think.. hopefully i get into san jac. or jester.. they sound like the most happening ones.. if not i think i'll keep dobie as a backup.. i heard that one is the best private..

When's your housing "application" date? San Jacinto requires a really really early date as in the first weeks of September for you to have a chance I heard.

What if you do the contract in Mid-May but your application date was in Nov??? Does that make a difference??

I think it should. Because it would rather be unfair for people that wait to decide on their school because they have a lot of good options open. So far I've heard that it's dependent on your housing application date. November is an okay date, but I'll doubt you'll get into San Jacinto with that. (Unless you have a roommate living there or with a high priority).

Hmm, I'm still wondering about Jester vs San Jac. I heard that Jester was an all out party dorm by almost everyone I met. Would this be very distractly if you wanted to study or have some peace?
