This is amazing. Thank you so much.
Don’t know if there are any Sherlock fans here, but as John would say, “Fantastic!”

Old thread, but… my kid was rejected from TASP and a couple of other prestigious programs, and got into U of Chicago, Swarthmore, and Harvey Mudd the next year. However, I do recommend that just like you apply to safety colleges, consider finding a safety summer program or two as well. It sure doesn’t hurt to do something productive in the summer, even if it isn’t a tippy top summer program.

Ditto, this post is awesome and deserves to be bumped up again. I’m only a sophomore (college is still a few years away), but I’m applying to PROMYS, HCSSiM, and a few other highly-selective summer programs. I really really like math, but I’m in no way a genius and I’m pretty much bracing myself for rejection, even though I really hope I get accepted.

But if I don’t, it’s not the end of the world. I can spend my summer doing lab work and practicing for an audition for a youth orchestra. While PROMYS would be amazing, being rejected doesn’t mean I’m a failure and doesn’t mean I won’t get into college.

Thank you for this post.
