When should applicants who applied EA start hearing back?

I'm getting all that anxiety from waiting for a response from my schools!
I heard that I shouldn't expect to hear back before December, is that correct?

If you applied for the first early action deadline (11/15), we begin notifying applicants after 12/15. If you applied for the second early action deadline (12/15), notification begins after 1/15.

The My.Hofstra.edu Portal indicates that a decision has been regarding my admission for the fall and that information would be coming in the mail. Do you wait until all early action decisions have been made to send them out, or do you send as the decision is made. I am excited and nervous at the same time!

HofstraRep: Will merit scholarships come with the letter of acceptance?

Soontobesenior - Yes, merit scholarships will come with a letter of acceptance.

profmo - We wait until all of the Early Action decisions are made before mailing them out. For the first early action deadline, we will begin to mail them out on December 15. For the second early action deadline (on 12/15), we will begin mail them out on January 15.

Hofstrarep - my DD’s portal page says Congrats - when will the snail mail come?

College Rep: Do not know if you can answer but…Why did some students get notified online before they received anything in the mail, while for other students their portal still says you will receive info in the mail within two weeks? I thought all decisions are mailed out on Dec. 15. I did not know that some students are also notified online before Dec. 15. Seems like all the students should get the notifications at the same time to help eliviate some of the stress.
Thank you and happy holidays.

I can’t tell whether my Hofstra portal is telling me that I got in or not!
Where exactly does it say?

If you go into MyHofstra - in the top left hand corner is where my dd’s says congrats. But, I will say that hers did not change until later in the weekend and some others changed earlier. It may be that theya re still updating the site.

I got in! Woot woot!

Anyone not notified either by portal or mail? Am I the only one, or is this site only for accepted students?
Help

The portal gives your status. My daughter’s says application being reviewed. She may be in EA II instead of EA I.

I just checked my portal page and it says this: A decision has been made regarding your admission to Hofstra University for the Fall Semester 2012. You will receive a letter in the mail with more information. Please note that decisions are not provided over the phone.

What does this mean? Could they have just not updated my page yet?

mine says something different
“Our Admission Deans have reviewed your application and you will be receiving more information regarding your application for admission in the mail in the next two weeks.”

I applied EA 1. I do not know what that means either. The way Hofstra notifies their candidates really should be reviewed. It is not consistent at all. Some got their notification by mail some by email some both and others like us were not notified at all, just told to wait. Not notifying everyone the same way certainly adds to an already stressful situation. Hofstra Rep please respond for clarification
