I am confused about when college applications should be submitted to colleges? I heard that the early birds get the scholarships. Is there any truth to that? I kept hearing that many applications need to be sent by this October to enroll for fall of 2007. Is that true? Thanks for your help?

I'd also like to know...

official deadlines are usually Jan 1....
but when is ideal to balance out having time to work on your apps vs sending them in bright and early (and making a good impression?)

send them in ASAP is the advice everyone gives me. i guess last year some servers crashed on the deadline. for rolling admission schools you need to get your apps in very early because it boosts your chances and popular programs get filled.

rolling = as early as possible
otherwise, I don't think it matters too much. But you may want to avoid sending it right on the deadline for technical reasons.

Thanks for all of your replies.....and I am glad arti pointed out what rolling means because I have seen that on some college websites and had no clue what it meant.......thanks to all of you.

Definitely November 27th. Don't go after that because they'll think you're lazy. But don't do it before because they'll think you don't have anything that consumes your time.

Sorry. That was a completely unreasonable response for a very reasonable question. Yes, these responses were very instructive. Thanks.

and for ED??
