I'm wondering what is the etiquette in adding a connection to your LinkedIn account? I just started an internship this month and have been interacting with my supervisors and other people on the staff, but I was wondering when it's an appropriate time to add them on LinkedIn? Is it OK to do so now? Or should I wait until I am almost done with my internship? I don't really know what's the best practice for this. Any users have experience or any other people with general advice?

During the internships I’ve had, I’ve connected with supervisors, etc within the first week and that was totally appropriate. I think I waited until 5 weeks through my 10 week internship to connect with the EVP of my department. I’ll also connect with recruiters, company contacts, etc almost immediately. I WOULD wait until close to the end to ask for recommendations, though.

I’ve had some people add me in the first week of meeting them in the office. I found that sort of tacky since I can’t really get to know you in one week. In the past, if I added people, it was done within a week after the end of the internship.
