When should I apply for Jr Transfer?

Hi Guys! I just graduated from high school last month. I have 18.6 AP credits for the college of letters and science and I am doing 2 classes at a community college (total 6 units). I will do 32 units is this coming school year in a private college. At the end of the spring semester next year, I will have a total of 56.6 units. But Berkeley requires a minimum of 60 units to apply for admission as a transfer student. I plan to do 2 classes next summer in 2013. By the end of next summer, I will exceed 60 units. Should I apply as a Junior transfer this November (2012) or next November (2013)?

Thanks to all in advance for your comments!

If you want to transfer to Berkeley, a private college is not the best way to go. Transfers from a four-year university get LAST priority, since they already have a way to graduate. California community college students get first priority. Unless you’re completely comfortable sticking with that private college if you don’t get into Berkeley, community college is the way to go. It’s definitely not impossible to transfer from a four-year, but it’s certainly MUCH more difficult.

You must have at least 60 semester/90 quarter units by the end of the Spring before you transfer. You can’t do those units the summer before you transfer.

I would go to the UC transfer sub-forum. That’s where you can get the most information about transferring.

Thank you very much, newsoul. Your comments have been really helpful. I greatly appreciate it.
