i applied RD on Jan 15 using the Personal Application Admissions sent to me...my status was updated to "application complete" a few days ago. How long should it take to get a decision? The reason I ask is that several people seem to ALREADY be hearing back from Tulane...crazy.

When did you apply? Jan 15 is tomorrow, LOL! Good luck.

haha, sorry. i applied yesterday. if my post is indicative of my abilities in college i guess im getting rejected…! :]

@onebluegoldfish, if it helps I somehow forgot to fill in my address on that app (I’d filled it out and closed it multiple times over a couple of months so the time I ACTUALLY submitted I didn’t realize I hadn’t done it that time until I clicked “next” and it wouldn’t let me go back) and I got accepted EA with a 25k/year scholarship + honors program lol.

hahaa okay thanks rainbowrose i feel better now. i hope i get a scholarship too! are you going to go to tulane? i’m applying EDII to Colgate so everything will depend on that…

Who wants to go to a school named after a toothpaste?? LOL, kidding, and I know you hear that lame joke all the time. It is a fine school of course. Good luck to you with that.

@onebluegoldfish, I’m not sure yet. I’m still waiting on 12 other schools and Tulane is the only school I’ve heard from (well technically I was deferred from Brown but that’s not an acceptance or a rejection).

@fallenchemist: lol, i do get that all the time! i believe the school was actually funded by the same family who created the toothpaste back in the day.
@rainbowrose: good luck with all your apps. this year seems extra-competitive, a lot of my really qualified friends were deferred from their ivy dream schools :[

i was accepted!!! yay! this is my first acceptance!

I applied mid December after being deferred by both Hopkins and Georgetown. My application however was not complete until about the second week of January due to a mistake by my counselor. When should i expect to hear back? I really want to go to Tulane. I got accepted into UNC-Chapel Hill, do i have a good chance of getting into Tulane?

onebluegoldfish: you were accepted two days after you submitted your application? I’ve never heard of that.

i actually applied on january first, and my status was switched to complete by jan 13th, which is what i meant to say in my post. idk what i was thinking when i was writing that. i applied via the personal application. i heard back three days after my application status switched to complete. i received notice of my scholarship for 20,000 per year within the week. i have no idea why they accepted me so quickly…but im grateful!

How long was your status on “pending review”?

i think maybe 1 of the three days i had to wait for a decision

sportaholic - You should have a very good chance I would think. You didn’t mention your stats, but generally Tulane and UNC CH should have similar admissions criteria, with UNC CH being harder for OOS.

Can someone tell me how my s can check the status of his application online? We don’t have the email receipt anymore of his application submission (little sister got on his computer)… I’m guessing it had the information. I have the parent acknowledgement “your son has applied to Tulane. yada yada” but there isn’t any thing in that email that tells me where to go to check his status.

Rice1961, the website is gibson.tulane.edu. If you son/daughter does not have his password and username, he or she should call the admissions office at Tulane, explain his situation and ask for another one.

dont bother calling. go to the website izzy mentions, it will ask you if you’ve forgotten your username and password to log on, and email it to you. i never even got the email with my username/password so i just did the above and it worked out well.

fallenchemist- here are my stats. i can still say im very surprised i even got into Chapel Hill. I felt good about applying but now that i got in i realized how competitive it is to get into UNC, especially since im out of state. Hopefully i will be accepted to Tulane because it is currently my number one school.

I agree with your self-assessment in strengths/weaknesses. Even though SAT a little low for Tulane, I think the rest more than makes up for it. Also good AP load senior year, that helps. I think 75-25 you get in. (Highly inexact science for those odds, btw!)
