When should I hear back from MSU?

Hi everyone, I am applying for Broad in Fall 2017 as a transfer student with 62 credits. I applied on Nov 15th when the app just opened. And I finished updating all the grades via online portal and my app status has been sitting as receiving for 8-9 weeks now. I just wonder when I should expect to hear back from them. Everyone’s answer will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, you’ll probably hear back in february. I was in your situation last year and this is my second time applying at MSU. May I ask you where you go right now and your GPA?

Thank you! I know right, the transfer app is very confusing, and I’ve been tweeting them but they don’t reply it. I am kinda worried cause I haven’t seen any updated yet. I’m going Macomb CC and my GPA is 3.89, but I don’t have a lots of EC. When did you apply and what major are you?

Right now I’m apply as a Hospitality Business major and they’re known to be a competitive major. I go to Grand Valley currently and I’m really hoping I’ll get in for fall this time. I have over 61 credits and pretty much all my prerequisites are completed for my major. The only thing is my GPA 2.8 right now but I’m taking 13 credits this semester. Are you taking courses at your current school right now?

I applied to msu 10/28 and it has been around 11 weeks and still haven’t heard anything back.
Act: 29

hope to get my response soon!

Do you remember if it was early, mid, or late February? I also applied for Summer 2017, which probably makes me the only person in that pool ;))

Hey @Jay2021 i’m guessing you’re a High School Student? Transfer admissions work differently, but they usually say to give 8-12 weeks so have you heard a response yet?

Hey @Medsci I think I saw you on the main Fall 2017 transfer thread, does attending in the summer allow you to return as a student in the Fall? I always thought those admissions worked differently since during the summer they host way fewer students and typically host a lot of guest students as well.

Totally :)>-

Actually, I had an advisor tell me to do it because of my situation. Yes, it is a rarity.

but… for some odd reason, you are making me second guess myself. Im pretty sure I’m fine. Filled out same app, same process and all.

@CCmsu20

Yes, I am a high school senior. Nope I haven’t heard anything back from them yet; but my applicaation status has been updated.

"Thank you for your patience and continued interest in Michigan State University. An initial review of your application indicates you are a competitive applicant to MSU. Due to an increase in the quantity and quality of freshman applications, the Office of Admissions requires additional time to thoroughly review all applicants before making a final decision.

Admissions decisions will be released on a rolling basis, beginning in mid-October 2016. Our intention is to deliver your decision within 12-weeks from the time your application was complete; including all your supporting documents (personal statement, transcript and test-scores).

No additional information or documents are required. The most up-to-date information will be posted to your account as soon as it becomes available. Students will be notified by email when a change occurs on your account.

Thank you again for your patience."

I called them to make sure it wasn’t a deferral letter. It is NOT the deferral letter. The lady said it’s just taking a little longer for me. Not sure why, but there was a problem with my high school transcript and that might have caused the problem. The person told me I should get my decision within 4 weeks.

@Jay2021 Oh I see. I’m not sure what kind of problem they would have with your transcripts. They could also be trying to weed out all the other applicants (lower competition) and delaying your decision as they do so.
