hi, i'm a high school junior and i was wondering when you're supposed to start an account for the common app; i'm thinking about creating one now just b/c i want to see what the app looks like even though i know the app i'll fill out next year isn't up yet. i also have a feeling that our school will tell us when to create an account, but i just want to get on the website to see what it's all like. is there a problem with creating an account too early, or without my school? if i'm creating an account now, should i create the one i'll use, or use an old email address and fake all the info just to get on? thanks for your feedback!! :)

After this application season closes, all accounts will be deleted; making one now for the purpose of beginning your applications already would be pointless. If you’d like to make one to see what it is like though, I’m sure you are clear to do that.

The CommonApp opens it’s application each year in late July / early August, if I’m correct. You are welcome to set up an account as soon as it is up.

You can’t create the one you’ll use for your applications.
All accounts get deleted in June/July.
You can, however, make an account to play with now if you want.
There is no problem creating an account early, just no that nothing you put in it will be saved for next year.
