When should I receive my admissions decision?

My UT-Austin mystatus application checklist is complete. I am a non-auto admit, in-state incoming freshman that applied to the McCombs School of Business. What time frame do you think I should receive an admissions decision?

At the earliest December but more than likely in February.

Would it be better to hear back on the admission decision later on because I would think that the earlier I would hear back, the more likely they quickly denied me. This is of course for people that are on the bubble, which I think I am.

Also, will OOS students hear back around the same time as non-auto admits?

what are your stats ? brighdalake

brighdalake-you are not on the bubble.

@DallasScholar What do you mean?

You said above you thought you were on the bubble to get into UT. Believe me, you’re not on the bubble at all. Just because your school doesn’t rank won’t hurt your non-auto admit chances. Your GPA and ACT are above average for non-auto and your ECs even boost that. UT is a match for you at most.

Thanks for your input! I know that rank is such a huge factor in UT and McCombs admissions. My family and counselors at my school have told me that because my school does not rank, (meaning that they don’t rank outside the top 10%) my chances are a lot lower. If they did rank me I would be at 11%, 68/634. However, my transcript says not ranked but I did include “top 11%” in my resume’s academic section.

Ok guys so I totally thought I was good to go with UT, then… I got accepted to Texas State and checked my transfer credits and saw they transferred a F, and C from my oldddddd transcript, like before I even knew what dropping was… either way I forgot… so that put my GPA at a 3.3, rather than the 3.7 I thought I’d be transferring in with. Since Tx state did this, I assume UT will too. UT is my dream school! I did 3 great essays, but now I’m super worried. Has anyone got their letter yet? And should I go ahead and just register at Tx State for the spring?

Ps I have 49 credits, and am currently taking 18 hours…

can you chance me DallasScholar?

I go to a competitive catholic school that doesn’t rank, but I know I’m top 13%. My unweight GPA is 3.57 and my weighted GPA is 3.90.
My SAT scores: math: 690 reading:620 writing: 700 composite: 2010
My ACT scores: math: 28 reading: 28 writing: 30 science: 26 composite: 28
My ECs: Swim Team, Pro-Life club, SADD, Key Club, Ambassador, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, National Spanish Honor Society
I have 100 service hours too and 1 job experience: lifeguard
I have a hand condition where I was born with only two fingers on my left hand. I wrote about this in my essay and I think my essay was pretty solid
also, my first choice major is natural sciences
and by the end of high school, i will have taken 10 ap’s
thanks!

@brighdalake There is a big difference in “do not rank” and only ranks top 10%. That is now definitely a weak point in the application, however it should not change the admission. Getting admitted to McCombs will be a bit harder though.

@treesandacorns I would say your GPA is definitely a weak point, and being non-auto admit will lower your chances of getting in. You’re at a high match, low reach. Raise either the SAT another 100, or ACT another 4 composite and you become more competitive.

I believe the Spring 2014 decision for transfer students is in mid-November…
