WHEN Should I Retake? 1640 =(

I received an AWFUL SAT score for the March 1 SAT. Given, I didn't study AT ALL. And I don't want to retake the SAT more than 2 times.

When should I retake it?
May or June or September? My main problem with May is that it's AP testing time. And also, one of those dates has to be for my SAT II Subject Tests.

Oh. And I got an 8 on the Essay.

Same dilemma here, APs and SAT IIs. I don't know about you, but I know what I need to focus on and I think there's a chance I can study enough to re-take in May. There's no point in re-taking if you aren't ready.. I wasn't really ready for March and I learned my lesson.

I would take at least two SAT Subject Tests in May, ESPECIALLY if the subject matter coincides with the info I'm reviewing for AP tests (U.S. history, some sciences, etc). That way, you'll save time and have the chance to retake those tests if you aren't satisfied w. your scores.

The SAT is not offered in September, actually. The earliest autumn testing date falls in Oct. (unless CB decides to revamp the system this year). If you want to have time for a second retake, go for a second SAT Reasoning testing in June. This will give you a full month to devote to preparation for this test, which is typically weighted more heavily in college admissions.

Think about whether you want to apply EA/SCEA/ED. If you do, most schools will not consider scores from tests taken after October. If you DO end up taking the SAT II in May and the SAT I in June, as suggested, you will have time to review both sets of scores and decide which to retake, if necessary, in October. Even if you are sure that you won't be applying early, it's best to get standardized testing out of the way as soon as possible. College applications sort of take over your life sometime around late Nov to early Jan...

A 450 is the 28th percentile in math?

eh, im in the same dilema as well
