Hey.. Im only 16 years old n im from Belfast, N.Ireland. I really wanna go to a uni in america , mostly in california or anywhere that plays NCAA division 1 soccer. Could any1 tell me when i should start applying etc to get coaches or the school interested in me?

Call the coaches now

Check out Santa Clara University for some of the best DI soccer in CA.

First, you get into the Celtic starting 11.

Then, the coaches will call you.

Simple, innit? =p

yeah its a shame that barcelona knocked them out of Champions League. I'm a huge Celtic fan.

lol i actually had a trial with them in the summer...but any serious answers? lol

yeah, you want to start contacting coaches as soon as possible. do some research and find out which schools you're interested and get in touch with those coaches. Since you're overseas you wont have the opportunity to play in college showcase tournaments like most of the high school students here which is kind of a disadvantage, but obviously the coaches will understand that. most kids here start playing in showcase tournaments during junior year but colleges aren't allowed to talk to them officially until summer before senior year. it might be different for international students though.

also, in terms of actually applying, the process will be much easier once you have a coach interested in you. they'll walk you through the application and help you with the admissions people.

good luck!!!

oh, and go liverpool! :)

Thanks...I realy wanna go to Santa Barbara just seems like a good place to go. Would I get in contact with thier soccer coach and tell him my CV etc ?

Is there a DVD of your playing you can send coaches, along with your CV? It will certainly help to get a coaches interest.
