earlier the better? cheaper off amazon/ebay? i don't know what my classes are til orientation, so I was wondering if i should just wait or get on top of it asap.

If you don't know what your classes are, don't you kind of HAVE to wait?

yea, the earlier the better, but if u dont know ur classes then how are u supposed to know what textbooks?

If you got college orientation, better hope it's sooner rather than later otherwise you'll get stuck with new textbooks that are more expensive than the used textbooks.

I just got textbooks for the classes I know I'm going to have to take, and am waiting on the others.

um, different professors use different books

wait till after the first day of class... for all of your classes...

sometimes they'll have multiple books listed for a class... and the professor will tell you to just buy one of them...

Well, UCSD has all the textbooks listed online so... o_o;;

Anyways, I only bought 2 textbooks anyways.

If you want to read ahead, it might be good to buy early, though I would generally advise waiting until a week into class. Perhaps not for humanities majors, but for engineering and science majors, it may well be that you will be asked to buy a $100-200 textbook only to use maybe 1 chapter in it. Of course, by waiting, you run the risk of the store being out of stock, but most professors(not all, so you do run some risk) are sympathetic to these problems.
