I'm a rising sophomore and I absolutely love to learn. I'm planning on taking these AP exams:

Sophomore:
AP World History (self study)
AP US History (self study)
AP Psychology (self study)
AP Statistics (will be taking regular Statistics concurrently)

Junior:
AP Chemistry (class)
AP French (class)
AP Government & Politics (class)
AP Calculus BC (class)
AP European History (self study)
AP Micro (self study)
AP Macro (self study)

How should I go about self studying for the AP subjects I listed above? Would two hours of studying a day from now until January and four hours of studying a day from January until May suffice? I want to get 5's (with the occasional 4) on all of them.

Depends. However, I would say 2 hours a day is more than enough. If you can keep that up throughout the year, and then even increase to 4 hours a day, you should get easy 5’s. AP exams are really not that hard.

Thanks. Should I buy any more prep books/textbooks?

I have:
US History - AMSCO & American Pageant
AP World History - REA AP World History
AP Psychology - Crash Course & Barron’s
AP Statistics - Barron’s & 5 Steps to a 5
AP Chem - Sparknotes Powerpack & Peterson’s
AP Government - Crash Course
AP Calculus BC - Barron’s
AP French - Barron’s
AP European History - REA
AP Micro & Macro - Barron’s

You might want to drop one of the history courses and pair the other with something easier. It’s not that World and U.S are hard, but it’s just a lot to remember. Plus you already have other classes going on.

My schedule’s going to be a breeze, since my high school doesn’t allow any students to take AP classes until their junior year and honors classes are just as easy as regular classes :(

I will be taking French III, French IV, Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, World Cultures, and English 10. I think I’ll be able to maintain at least a 3.9 GPA because I had a 4.2UW freshman year.

If I am too busy when school starts, then I will probably drop US History and self study either Human Geography or Environmental Science.
Anyone know which is easier and more interesting? Thanks.

how on earth do you have a 4.2 UW when UW is out of a 4.0?

“If I am too busy when school starts, then I will probably drop US History and self study either Human Geography or Environmental Science.

I self studied both my sophomore year, and I’d say that though both are easy and interesting, Environmental Science beats. It may be different for others; I love studying ecology but if you’re more of a social studies person then APHG may suit you better.

AP World History - REA AP World History
^ I would suggest getting the PR book, but since you’re self studying, maybe the Barrons (albeit a bit too much information) would help.
I would not suggest the REA book; I used both REA and Barrons for APWH and the REA book is not only difficult to read, but also too detailed (even more so than the Barrons book IMO)

Switch in World/US for Human Geo/APES. Then it’s doable

Get REA for statistics…

“Thanks puggly123! How’d you do on both if I may ask?”

2 5’s. If you have any questions on how I studied, feel free to send a PM.

I suggest dropping a history AP and taking Micro first unless you’re great at history.
