When should I start working on my college application?

I'm currently a junior

next summer

I concur. Spend your school year rocking your HS classes and your extra-curriculars. At most, start thinking about what kind of college you’d like to go to. Then, during the summer you can start working on apps.

Everyone says to start the summer after junior year… my high school counselor actually lied and said apps don’t come out till october of senior year so I shouldn’t worry about them until them. It seems she wanted me to enjoy my summer. I turned out all right, honestly. So it’s not imperative to start in the summer. Unless you’re applying to 15 schools or something…

^Yeah, but if you don’t start until October, you might have to rush to do EA/ED. Besides, by October, plenty of kids have already been in school for nearly 2 months, so it won’t mess up your summer.
I’m totally with not getting too intense during the summer though. Maybe just fill out random forms (I find that enjoyable) and wait on the essays.
