I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask this question, or if it has already been asked before, so please inform me if necessary. Having said that though, when do most people begin to write their college essays? With all of the time needed to plan and review them, one would think a significant amount of time would have to be devoted to them. However, at what point should I begin? When did you guys begin to write your essays? I'm currently a junior in high school so I know I have the whole year, but I'm just searching for some opinions and suggestions at this point in time. Thanks!

I’d suggest writing them over the summer; you’ll be less stressed and you’ll have more time to write with quality. Don’t be like me and wait until school starts when you’ve got 4586 other things on your plate.

I don’t know if other schools do this, but in 12th grade we write Personal Statements/Narratives in our English classes at the beginning of the year.

Yeah, write it over the summer. Start thinking about it earlier, though, particularly if you’re a perfectionist like me. I’ve been trying to write an essay since last year and rejecting EVERYTHING - I’m still searching for the perfect TOPIC! So just start jotting down ideas from now.

That’s a good idea. I think it would be the most ideal option considering I have to take the SAT, ACT, SAT IIs, and AP tests all on top of my school work this year. Thanks for the replies!:)
