Hey, quick question. I’m taking Chem I sophomore year and wondering when I should take AP Chem and Honors Physics. school doesn’t have AP Physics) I don’t think it matters that much, but would it be beneficial to take AP Chem Junior year right after Chem I or to take Physics Junior year then AP Chem Senior year? Just a question on my mind.
It does not really matter so long as bio/chem/physics is taken at some point. Personally, I would get those three out of the way before taking an AP version, but I do see the merits of taking AP Chem after Cham or AP Bio after bio.
As posted above, I don’t think it matters unless you have a shot at getting a better teacher one year over the other.
@momofsenior1 Good point.
There may be an advantage to taking it after Chem 1 when it’s all still fresh. If you wait a year, you will have to do more “refreshing”. If you like chem (which presumably you do), and do well on the AP exam, you can self report the score on college apps… And because your school doesn’t have AP physics, you aren’t running the risk of discovering that you would rather have taken a second year of physics than chem.
