When should I take the SAT and ACT?

I just started my junior year. I took the PSAT last year, felt I did horrible, and got a projected score of 1680 (54 CR, 58 W, 56 M), which isn't very good (right?) ... I just took too long to answer questions and left many blank. Anyways, I am not sure when to do the official big time SAT and ACT this year. I can't believe it's already time for all this... yikes! So I signed up for the PSAT for this October. Now I have to decide if I should take the SAT in November, December, January, March, May, or June.. I know I'll have two AP exams in June (English and Bio) so I don't want to be over-stressed. My mom told me that the PSAT isn't necessarily a perfect indicator of how I'll perform on the SAT, and so while I should still do the PSAT (I already signed up, it won't hurt, and it gives me a chance at NMS consideration), I should consider maybe taking the SAT sooner that spring like I'd planned. I can see how I do and then maybe take it again, either in a later month or senior year. Is this the better plan? The ACT options are December, Feb, April, and June... I just don't really know when do take them all...

My thought is: PSAT in October for the hell of it, SAT in November, see how I do, and ACT in December, see how I do... then register to take them again if I'd like in spring (or senior year?)

Feedback is APPRECIATED. I'm kind of freaking out.

ACTUALLY, my options are: November or May for SAT, and for ACT, December or June.

Preferably on a Saturday.
