I'm a sophomore right now...I'm taking the PSAT in October, as required. I took the PSAT for practice last October and got a 194...not too great. But, my question is, when should I take it? I'm thinking I have enough time to review if I take it in October...? I want to leave plenty of time to improve if I'm not happy with my scores...Plus, I'll be taking 4 AP tests in May and 3 SAT IIs (probably all in June)....I want to do early decision senior year, so I don't want to be bothered about preparing for the SAT then...

Most juniors take it in January. It's not too early and not too late.

I'm the mom of a junior. I would suggest prepping for both the PSAT and the SAT over the summer, and take them both in October. The tests are not too different, but the SAT is longer and has an essay, of course. And the math is a bit harder. I'm told that the fatigue factor kicks in with the SAT.

This will give you several advantages: 1) if you don't like your SAT score, you have plenty of opportunities to take it again; 2) if you DO like your score, you're done! Then you can spend the rest of your junior year concentrating on your schoolwork and getting some SAT Subject Tests out of the way.

Yea, just take it whenever you feel ready.

Personally if your gona have too many challenging classes ur junior year take the SAT in the summer...that's what moi is doing...sweet dreams

but there isnt one in the summer...you mean October? because I am taking 4 APs and 2 honors.

Ya, just take it in October; take the SAT as many times you can.
