I'm starting to stress out over taking the test. I have no idea when to take it and how many times i should take it. Ideally the only saying goes that only twice but now many are saying as many times as you want.

So my question is when should I take the SAT? I honestly do not feel prepared enough (i doubt i will ever) and I don't know how to make time to study. I was thinking about December 1st (so i can take it again during the spring and in my senior year).

So what dates would be best for me? I know I can't take it for sure on Nov.3 and Jan. 26 and for the May test I'll be taking the subject tests.

Any thoughts and ideas are strongly appreciated. Thank you.

Just wait till the very last minute, like i did, and you won't have to worry about when to take it. You will have just one option.

But I want the best score possible. Will that work?

it doesn't matter when you take them. you are going to know some things on some tests and some things on others... it's all luck really. what you know/what you dont, how you feel that day, etc. i know smart juniors who have taken them in december and gotten in the 1400s, then others who have only been in the 1000s. it's up to you, most people take them march/may/june of their junior year and then maybe october/november if they don't do so well on those.

I don't think there's much of a difference in your intelligence whether you take it in December or May. I took it in March of my junior year and that worked out fine for me.

Whatever you do, make sure you get in at least one SAT I and one round of SAT IIs before summer vacation. I know way too many people who put it off and are now swamped with apps, SATs, and schoolwork during their senior year.
