when should i take the sat?

im a junior and i havent studied for the sat... at all.

i took the psat last year... and i didnt study for that either (but i have started studying for the one this year)

i think i got a 210 selection index on the psat.

so, when do u guys think i should take the sat?? now in november?? or should i wait until next semester (and i would still have time to redo it in oct. of senior year if i dont get a good score)??

btw, do u think its necessary to take the sat more than twice??

At our kids' HS, all juniors are encouraged to take the SAT I in Fall or early Spring of Junior year. Most take it in November. It's personal preference as to whether you take the SAT more than once. My son insisted on taking it in Nov & didn't like his score, so he took it again in Dec & then took the NEW SAT I in March. He's not thrilled with how he did in writing, but his GC & I said he did well enough, so he's just going to take the SAT II Math II in Oct & be done with all testing. His school also recommends juniors take the ACT & most did in the Spring.

thanx!

anyone else??

I took it in June after my Jr. year for the first time. I thought that would be best b/c APs and school would have been over for about a month to give me time to review at my leisure.

^^^ same strategy as mine :)

I took mine in May of my junior year. Fortunately I did well enough to not have to take it again, but I think that's a good strategy; crazy as it sounds, all those APs made me less stressed about the SATs b/c I wasn't obsessing.

PS - It might have not been the strategy, but I got higher on the actual than on any of my practice tests.
