I don't know where I'm going to apply other than my ED school.

I know, I'm late or whatever, but when do you think I should have my college list finalized in case by some horrible reason I don't get into my ed school?

I'm thinking about Brandeis, George Washington, Rice, I dunno

as early early early as possible.

my friend applied to a bunch of schools and only got into cornell. when his mom called some of the schools since all his stats were within range, they told her the reason he didn’t get into some schools is because he applied late and they had already filled most positions by then so he didn’t make the cut.

Can you guys tell me approximately how many choices should I have ?
I will start observing all schools in my list asap.

What thecuriousgirl said applies only to schools with rolling admissions. You should figure out where to apply within two months or so, but start working on the common application as soon as possible. Once you find out where you are going to apply RD you can do the supplements for those schools. Most schools don’t read applications until after the application deadline has passed to give everybody an equal chance regardless of when they applied.

Well, it really depends on you and where you are applying to. Schools with rolling admissions, obviously you should apply to early, as well as schools with admissions deadlines but who start reading applications before the deadline.

I think that you should probably have a college list finalized by mid-November – even that’s too late – but you can start applying before your list is finalized. If you know that you want to apply to GWU, Rice, and Brandeis, start those applications now while you are still looking for other schools. Once you find other schools and you are positive you want to apply there, too, start those applications.

By Halloween. It’s just a nice cutoff.
