When should i transfer to Rutgers NB?

I underestimated my freshmen year and ended up with a 2.296 gpa.
I really want to transfer to Rutgers New Brunswick and i know that i cant screw around with my academics anymore. If i do well fall 2012 should i apply for fall 2013? or finish my sophmore year strong and apply for spring 2014? hopefully its not too late to do well

It’s not too late. If you get straight A’s this fall, you should a GPA of around 3.0. Which is should be enough for you to successfully transfer into Rutgers for Fall 2013. Just make sure to get straight A’s.

You can successfully transfer to Rutgers with a 3.0 GPA? I heard it was tougher to transfer to Rutgers from another school unless the two schools have a dual degree program. For example, someone I know from Tufts had a GPA around 3.65, but he was not accepted to Rutgers.

Like NJCollegeBoy said, getting straight A’s is out of the question. Make sure you also have a very good reason why you’d like to transfer to Rutgers - NB in particular.

so if i happen to get denied for fall 2013 even if i manage to get close to a 4.0gpa. i can still apply for spring 2014 right?

mrianbo - With a 2.2 cum GPA, it will take at least two consecutive full-time semesters of challenging coursework with strong grades for you to be competitive for admission at RU-New Brunswick (School of Arts and Sciences in particular). You are welcome to apply for fall 2013 if you like. If we are unable to admit you for that semester, you may reapply for the following spring (2014) and the $65 application fee will be waived. You should strive for a cumulative GPA of 3.0+.
