When should I visit the schools I'm applying too?

To make a long story short, my mom didn't want me to visit any schools because she thought that once I'd been granted admission into my state flagship, I would automatically decide to go there. If not, she told me I should visit the schools I applied to after I get accepted.

The problem is, I've applied to 12 schools and I've only been able to see 3 of them because I didn't have to pay to do so. Since I only have about a month between when I get accepted and once I must choose the school, I feel that visiting all ten in just a month will be too hectic and I won't be able to get a feel of each school.

What do you think I should do? Should I keep pressing the issue and try to visit the schools I want to go to know, possible getting my heart set on them before what may become a rejection? Or should I listen to my mother and just wait until after I get acceptances in April.

How did you seniors go about it?

Well, first, there's the basic visiting advice: visit multiple schools in one trip to save money/time, do most of your research online, come with questions to make the most out of each visit, etc.
But for you, see where you get accepted first. It'd be a tremendous accomplishment if you were accepted to all of your schools, but admissions are unpredictable these days.
Then, you could look into Accepted Student Days. I know that colleges have these, where you could go, sleep over, and talk to other potential students... It would still be hectic, but maybe less so, considering you'd be spending a lot of time at each college.
Money may also narrow down your choices; if you're looking for a certain amount a year, and only 6 schools will give you the merit/financial aid you want, then you already have three done.
Overall, I'd recommend waiting. If you have the chance to visit one or two, great. But, as long as your narrow down your list a bit after acceptances, you should be alright.

^Thanks for the good advice. Before I read your post, I started looking at how much it would cost to even visit these schools. The train ticket prices were astounding. Visiting URochester would be over $200 and visiting JHU would be $140 at the very least. I'm sure I have an idea of which schools I would pick over others and financial aid is a big factor so I'll wait to visit all of them.

I just remembered I have February break so at the time I'll visit Fordham and Wesleyan, mostly because their extremely close and it will be easy to do so.

Thanks! Any advice from anyone else though?
