When should I visit?

On Tuesday, I found out that I got accepted to Arizona State University. However, I have never visited the campus yet, but do plan on doing so before I decide on going there (I live in NY). After speaking with my parents about when we will go visit, my mom said she was thinking February. So my question is, is that too late to visit a school after you found out you've been accepted already since you need to fill out housing info and all that fun stuff? If your answer to that question is yes, what's a good time I should visit so i'll have all my housing stuff done before everything fills up?

Go during winter break

The one in December or February (my school has off a week in February)?

I would go during December

i would only go in december if it was the beginning of the month. you want to make sure semester is in session or there wont be very many kids there

Oh yeah, I forgot about that part. Stupid me

Haha, yea I was just going to say that myself.

I would think it depends on past history of housing assignments at ASU. Are all freshman guaranteed a dorm room? When is the deadline for getting the housing app. in? In recent years has ASU had a housing shortage? Call the housing office at ASU and try to get some info.

My S attends a state u. in the south. We visited in Feb. last year and sent his housing app. as soon as we returned from the visit. May 1 was the deadline. S got a room but a couple of his friends (along with 200 others) who waited til later to send their housing apps got put in off campus housing until dorm space opened up.

Don’t time your visit to coincide with their finals week. You will get a really unflattering impression of the place. On the plus side, ASU is in a great spot and you won’t have the same problems that I did with the weather when I visited Wisconsin in January.

congrats kyle… try to visit when classes are in session but make sure that you are off as well…

There is always far more demand for on-campus housing than can be accommodated at ASU, and every year there are hundreds of students who cannot be accommodated and have to find alternate housing off-campus. Housing assignments are given out on a first come/first served basis, so you should put in your housing deposit IMMEDIATELY after deciding to attend.
