when should my parents file taxes?

<p>my parents don't usually file until near the extension deadline of Oct 15 </p>

<p>clearly they're gonna have to file earlier this year, but how much earlier should they? i know it's "as soon as possible", but since im really just looking for a stafford loan cause of my high EFC, what would be a realistic date given how late they file? they insist on filing later</p>

<p>They should file as soon as possible. Call your school and explain the situation. Since you want only an unsubsidized Stafford loan, this may be able to be given to you without a finalized FAFSA.</p>

<p>I’m assuming you FILED a FAFSA using estimates. If not…do that today.</p>
