when should one take the GMAT

I'm a senior in college debating whether to take the GMAT in a few months or wait in till after graduate in May 07. If I take it in a few months it will take away from my study time for my current course work. However, it would be nice to do well early and forget about it. Is it wise to take it now or should I wait in till I graduate?

Do the test after graduation!!

Depends on when you plan on going to school. I forget how long the results of the test are good, but it's either 3 or 5 years I think.

it's 5 years... and I advise to wait until after graduation... then take a GMAT study course to prepare for it with no other academic obligations to stress over... then you'll get a 760 to go along with your 3.5+ GPA and a ticket to top notch MBA programs! ;)

wow.760 is huge. I just got 720 :(

how long should you prepare/study for it?

It depends. People who are weak quantitatively need more time practising math problems. But for those who arleady took senior-level mathematics, they only need to spend time studying the Verbal section.Everybody has different learning curve!!!!
