Does anyone know when merit-based scholarships from Rutgers start getting sent out? Should we begin filling in FAFSA - and does committing to a school affect any scholarships you would get?

[[I don't know, I just feel pretty bummed out. RU was my first choice school because it's affordable and in my own state, but I've always felt that it was a little below my reach. My combined SAT score is 2200 and my weighted GPA is 4.9 at a highly competitive high school (with a number of AP courses to boot), so I was kind of banking on some sort of merit-based scholarship to justify that choice.]]

Merit awards are announced around mid December. They will be accessible online. You will get a separate award from each school. Your stats are good so I would expect some amount of merit award.

Committing to a school should not affect your scholarship offers. You do not need to reply to admission offers until May 1.

Has anyone at all received scholarship notification? Where exactly on the portal would one find this information? I am hoping that my son gets a merit award of some kind. Don’t think he is in line for a big one, but every little bit helps!

My son was accepted to three of the schools at Rutgers back in early November, so I was hoping he would have heard about a merit award already. But, I am wondering though, if Rutgers waits to give out the majority of the awards until they see the applicant pool from all applicants, not just the ones that apply EA.

I got accepted into all of my choices for Rutgers, and it’s almost the end of December. But I still haven’t received any merit scholarship information. Do I have to wait until they process FAFSA?

I would guess scholarships continue to trickle out later also, but that is just a guess. I saw people reference on some threads having received other scholarships than Presidential on the date that people were getting Presidential in December. Don’t know if they do things the same way every year.
