I think they start deciding about scholarships in November, but im not 100% sure

Nikkigirl12--that's what we were told in the Pitt presentation at my school. I'm pretty sure you'll here something in the next two weeks or so.

Does anyone know the ratio of 2,000; 10,000; full tuition; and full ride scholarships offered?

so i submitted my app, wil they consider my app without my recs cuz they arnt even mailed yet, but i want my acceptance as soon as possible!

They give about 12-15 full rides per year.

what kind of test scores do you need for a full ride?

What do you think is the max scholarship I could get with a 1470 (plus 790 writing), 730 Math lvl2, 710 chem, 32 ACT, AP scholar w/ distinction, IB candidate, hardest possible courseload, 11/440 rank, Eagle scout, tons of leadership in boysouts, varsity tennis and some hobby sports (waterskiing), etc? I also have a GPA of 4.86 this year so far, but I guess they wont know that. I am hoping for the 20,000 (full tuition). Is this realistic. Potential History and philosophy of science/neuroscience major.

You are oos, judging from your $20K tuition; therefore, I think you certainly have a chance at the Chancellors Scholarship. They say the winners are based upon essays and interviews. Actually, lots of kids have very good stats, so it is probably based on subjective things.

OK cool, I think my essay was pretty good. It was about my work experience in a lab at vanderbilt over the summer. So is it like this: All chancelors nominees get the 20k, and then if you "pass" the interview those get the full ride?

Just got my envelope today! That was pretty fast; all the application materials only got in around a week ago... The letter said that I qualify for the UHC, and that more info will be sent separately.

Yeah, I'm going to be really interested to see how the money award shapes up...

First acceptance!

how many full tuitions do they give out??-- NOT the chancellor's (full ride)

I just heard today (UHC) and I'm psyched! Would love to hear about the merit scholarships (1550/1600, #1 in class). Got my fingers crossed.

I applied in the summer but my couseler didnt send in my transcript until last monday. The application status online just became complete today, any idea how early ill hear back?

kyao, it depends on your credentials

i have a 1500SAT, 720 Writing, 800MathIIC, 770Chem, 740US, semi finalist, hard course load, lots of activities.
But i have a 3.52 GPA, upward trend, very strong junior year. Do you think my GPA is gonna hurt me a lot and get me deferred?

i got accepted in less than a week.. applied 10/12

i would imagine that pitt is getting a bulk of apps now, so it might take a little longer (i guess it also depends on your major too) but i wouldn't stress over it. your stats are really nice so expect an acceptance letter soon

is your gpa weighted or unweighted? i had about the same gpa as you (3.6 unweighted) and a 4.6 weighted....it also really depends the rigor of your courses. so if that 3.5 is from taking AP/IB courses, you'll be fine

so will u get accepted even if one of the teacher recs isnt in

Yes they will go ahead and look at your app even if your letters are not in yet.

I have a question that relates to this post. My D applied and had transcripts sent 10/3. In checking her account and with Pitt, the do not have a record of receiving her transcripts. The HS guidance office refuses to send another saying PITT is really slow to open/process mail so give it a few weeks (!). Did anyone else who apply find that it took a long time for Pitt to record receiving your transcripts?

Not really. They recieved my data sometime the week before last and I heard on Monday.
