Congrats to all the accepted students and scholarship recipients above! Pitt's a great school. My d has been accepted into the Honors program and received a letter today inviting her to apply for the Chancellor's Scholarship, with two nice certificates, a decal, etc. We're pleased, of course, but baffled because the letter opens with: "Congratulations to you and your family. Based on your outstanding academic record, you have been selected to receive a University of Pittsburgh academic scholarship in the amount of per year."

So we're wondering, in the amount of what? That's an unfortunate typo - it leaves out the good stuff! My d phoned the admissions dept. and got someone who was apparently overly familiar with this situation - my d said it sounded as if she had answered 10,000 calls about the same question today. She told my d that a followup letter would be mailed with the correct scholarship amount and concluded the call rather abruptly. My d also received an email apologizing for the error, stating that a corrected letter has been sent.

At first I thought there might have been a glitch affecting all scholarship recipients, but some of you folks have heard about full tuition awards (congrats again!). Anyone else get a letter like my d's?

My ds just heard today that he received a full-tuition scholarship -- hurray! Now he will spend the next two weeks filling out the Chancelor's application stuff. He is very psyched!

yeah even $2000 will delight me.
maybe with luck i could score a 33 on the october act, even though the science KILLED my grade. we'll see though..

Congratulations to all. For those still waiting, the timing of acceptance letters, honors college, merit $ etc. did not seem to follow any pattern last fall. Sounds as if not much has changed. Although, I don't remember anyone last year saying that they received a "full ride" this early. Only full tuition and an invitation to apply for the Chancellor's Scholarship which indeed included full tuition, room and board, and fees and maybe even a book allowance. That scholarship offer came after being invited to interview for it.

My status just changed today from missing my transcript to everything being complete. I wonder when I will know if I got in. Does it come by mail or is there somewhere online I can check?

I think when people have been saying "full ride" they have meant full tuition. The only full ride I know of is the Chancellors and they won't be making those decisions for a while.
