When the classes begin in USA universities ? please help

I was trying to find on the internet, but I couldn’t anywhere… I was wondering when the classes start, and also if I can only apply only on time per year.

And one last thing, if I’m already in a non US University, if I’m willing to start everything over, right from the start, can i apply to a US university as a freshman? or if i start in a university I need to apply as a transfer ?.

thanks.

At most universities, you will be required to apply as a transfer student.

First day of classes is usually sometime in September, but it varies.

Thanks, one last thing. My chances of getting accepted decrease if I’m a transfer student ?

And I got in a university, but i havent started the classes yet, do I need to apply as a transfer already ?

If you’ve taken any college classes after you finished high school, you have to report them to the colleges when you apply. I think most consider students who’ve taken courses elsewhere transfers, but I’m not sure they all do. You have to check the college websites.

Thanks for the answer.

I haven’t take any classes yet, the classes start in october. And my chances of getting accepted by a university drop if I’m applying as a transfer ?

Depends on the school. Most schools have space for transfers, some highly selective ones are notably more difficult to get into as a transfer (think Stanford, Harvard etc.) Financial aid packages are also typically worse if you are a transfer. But why do you want to transfer if you haven’t even started classes at the university you’re enrolled(?) at? Do you no longer want to go there?

School in the US usually starts in late August/early September. Some schools do accept mid year transfers that would start in January.

I live in a small city, and the university here is far from being good in computer science.

Do you think is harder to get into universities like University of Chicago, University of Illinois(Urbana-champang), Ohio State University and University of California as a transfer ? I’m also applying for Stanford, but like you said, its notably more difficult as a tranfers.

And I have not started the classes yet ? if I quit the university you have any ideia if I can apply as a Frashman? I know its a weird question sorry hahahah

If you do not start taking classes, you can apply as a freshman.

that is a good new thanks.

If you take classes before you apply you will have to contact the admissions office and ask if you can apply as a freshman. They may let you but they will still want your transcript. I don’t even know if they will accept transfer credits from a foreign university.

It is more straightforward to apply as a freshman. The best financial offers are made to freshmen, some of the universities you mention won’t give any money to transfers.

Almost all U.S. universities have a fall application period for admission the following fall. A few public universities will take a spring admissions but I don’t know if the financial offers are good.

UCs only take Jr year transfers.

Stanford only takes about 30 transfers a year, internationals would be possible but your would have to have some sort of extraordinary talent or accomplishment. One female this year was the winner of the longest horse race in the world, the Mongol Derby.

It seems that if you are set on applying and attending a US university you should not attend your local and then you can apply as a freshman this fall. But if you are not accepted with enough aid you will have to start your own university late. So how much aid would you need?

DO you have money??

What is your GPA and test scores?

I’m probably leaving my local university then, I’ll probably apply this year for the US universities and there is no problem leaving my local university, I would lost only 6 months if everything goes wrong.

I’m looking for financial aid of 40%+ for privates, and for publics I have no worries with financial aid.

I don’t know how to calculate my GPA, I’m brazilian and the grade system here are really different, but in overall my grades are 80/100, I was in top 10% of my class.

I also practice sports and have won some competitions, 3 gold medals from regional soccer competitions, 2 gold medals from swimming competitions in my state, and 1 gold medal in swimming regional competition, 2 silver medals (swimming), 4 bronze medals (swimming), I also practice tennis and table tennis, but have no medals, I have won second place and third place in state science competitions, and 3 place in Math olympics and 3 place in Sebrae entrepreneurial competition.

I’m taking the ACT exam 13 jun, I think my score will be 30+.

I speak portuguese,spanish and english.

I’m sure to get recommendations from my teachers and the director of my school. I was also part of the class council.

I know this isen’t quite awesome, but there are some good universities i can join with this? and get a good financial aid ?

You should probably post in the International students’ forum. More likely to find answers there

thanks for the advice
