When they decide Financial aid

Does Emory look at every person's financial aid or do they look after they know which ones they are going to accept. Do they send a letter to everyone that has not completed their financial aid info or just to those that they have accepted. Thanks

same question

same question as I got an email.. did everybody who doesn't have a complete file get one?

I got one....

yeah, i got an email asking for proof of citizenship. kinda weird.

I got one asking to register with Selective Service...I'm only 16 and I can't register with Selective Service....

same i got one about citizenship, but i already sent that, kinda weird...

Well I called Emory this morning to ask them about faxing my stuff. The women on the phone led me to believe that the financial aid is only done for accepted students. First I was asking her what docs I needed and she asked if I was an incoming student or returning. I told her that I was waiting for a decision and she said "oh" in a very good natured way and then made sure I recieved a letter for finalization of my aid. I then asked her about the student ID that they say you need to put on the forms (but you only have this is you have already been accepted. She said I did not need to put it on there and I would get it in the mail soon for any other documents. Does that sound like anything else but- "you are going to get it in your acceptance letter". Now I am going to be extrememly disappointed if I do not get in.

I wouldn't read into this too much. The financial aid office collects all information and made similar requests with me prior to a decision being made for ED II.

I know this because there was a delay in admissions in reviewing my application because they were awaiting a re-submittance of 1 application item.

I understand that this year Emory like many other colleges received the highest # of applications in their history. In other words, it will be a bit more competitive to get acceptance.

Hopefully you will get accepted. Are u a strong applicant based on stats 3.8+ GPA and at least mid to upper 1300s on the M + V SAT?

thanks hopeful1. I am 20 points below on SAT but above on GPA with some good hooks and ecs. I think I still have a good shot even with the mediocre SATs, but i guess we will see.

Did you cats turn in any Student W2 form or just your parents?

My cats didn't turn anything in.....

When the woman said/implied on the phone that they only do FA packages for accepted students, that would be true. The FA offers go out in the mail after the admission decisions and they won't mail an FA offer to someone who wasn't accepted. However, they still have to make sure they have all of the FA info for a lot of people who won't be accepted. The process of running the numbers after they have all of the information only takes a few minutes.

ummmm. does emory fedex the packages?

well, I don't know if this was a foreshadowing but I did get into Emory! I am so excited!
