...do they mean one page, double-spaced or single-spaced? What are all of you doing?

i had one page single-spaced

My essay was 612 words, which roughly for me was about one page single-spaced. They definitely mean single-spaced.

ah, thanks.

What they really mean is don't over-do it. I'd suggest 800 words as a pretty high amount, possibly a ceiling even. Mine was like 600 or so and it seemed to work out pretty well.

mine is 1,300 words. 2 pages single spaced- - it fits into 7900 characters so too bad

^ ppl like you need to stop applying to the colleges I'm applying to.

well, ndn, u don't follow rules, so u shall be denied!

There was a rule to not exceed one page?!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOO :(

single spaced but don't stress over it too much...i had two page double spaced for both essays and still got in lol...

lol @ hypsis. Oh no please dont say i will be denied :) i really had a passion for teh university and i wanted to display it- - it was teh only part of my application that truly shined (my sat scores are 1930 :(.....)

oh but there was a kid who wrote 1200 words (2 pages) single and got accepted to class of 2013, so i feel comforted so it isnt necessarily rejected.

rofl @ hypsis.. i laffed.. gl ndnguy. i woulda followed the guidelines though...

^ ehh fits into 7900 characters. and again kid got into wharton this year with 1200 words :P

and you read my why penn too :)

So basically the "one page" there in the instruction refers to the MS Word page?
Or would it refer to the print preview page on the common app?

Right now mine took up the entire Word document page, but in the print preview, about half a page.

i put mine at 10pt font and its most of one page. 700ish words.
