When they say you need the most rigorous schedule possible...

Does that mean you shouldn't have any off periods? This year and last year, I took a full-year lunch period and a study hall every other day. Next year, my current plan is to take a half-year lunch (no study hall). So one half of the year I will have a full 9-class schedule. I know there are some kids that do it but many are in a music class and music teachers have no problem with students eating lunch in class, not sure about other teachers...so should I try to have a full-year lunch? Or does having a full year lunch period (or even having a lunch period at all) make my schedule seem not rigorous?

Lunch periods are fine. They want you to take rigorous classes. They don’t want you to fill up your entire schedule so you don’t have a lunch. Just take the most difficult core courses that your school offers.

“Most rigorous” classes are defined in the context of your school/counselor, and is typically determined by what your counselor checks on the school report. If you are that worried, talk to your guidance counselor.

But no, you are not going to be penalized for eating lunch.
