When to appear for SAT I and SAT II (Maths).

I gave my first SAT attempt December 2011 and I got a score of 1850 (very bad, I know.) I was planning on re-appearing this June and then maybe again in October if I still don't get my desired score.
I also want to give Maths 2 (Subject test) this May and I just started preparing for it.
Do you think I should postpone my dates and give Maths 2 in June and SAT I directly in October???

Please do help!! It'll mean a lot to me. Thank you :)

If you don’t feel ready, don’t take it. I took the Princeton Review SAT Prep course, and let me tell you, it was the most helpful course I could have taken. I got a 2020, which I was happy with, and shortly after took the SAT IIs. I was NOT ready for the SAT IIs, I just knew it. I ended up doing mediocre, but was unhappy with my results.

My advice would be to take whichever test you are more prepared for first. I took the SAT I first, because it’s more generalized and gives you an idea of how the tests go. If you know the material for the Maths II, go for it and take it first. If you don’t, postpone it, otherwise you’ll be wasting money.

You have plenty of time, good luck!! :)

I assume you understand that when colleges state that they require two SAT subject tests they usually mean in different subjects. Taking both math 1 and 2 will thus be counted as only one. Also, math 1 is not accepted by the UCs (which do not require any SAT IIs but recommend them for a number of programs) and Caltech (which requires math 2); math 2 is recommended over math 1 for Stanford if you submit a math; some other colleges require math 2 for engineering.
