When to Apply for an ROTC Scholarship

I will be a Junior in August and I was wondering when I should Apply for an ROTC scholarship. Do I apply in my Junior Year (2nd Trimester) or in my Senior Year?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Between junior and senior year. The application opens in either July or August for rising seniors.

Check with the ROTC that you are interested in joining. They have the deadlines on their websites, but you should also speak to an ROTC person with Army, Navy, etc. The scholarships have gotten crazily competitive in the past year alone. In addition, you had better be certain you are committed to the military. You get the scholarship, you owe the service.

If you get the scholarship, you do not owe anything until you start your junior year. It is similar to the academiee that way.

Not true, at least for Navy and Marines. You are obligated and sign a contract day 1 of your Sophomore year. If you back out after that you are required to pay the scholarship money back.
