When to APPLY FOR EARLY DECISION?

I am an international applicant from India and will complete 12th grade in March 2009. When shoul I apply to the Ivy-league universities and MIT for-
1) Early decision
2)Regular

We don't know... Did you complete your testing? Need more time to prepare? Busy with extracurriculars? Feel confident in your stats? Research the schools thoroughly?

Only you can say when...

Generally ED deadlines for admission will be in early November, but you have to check each school's application deadlines individually. Regular decision deadlines are usually early January. But, again, you need to check the admissions website at each school to confirm those dates. There is no point in submitting an application in March or April right after you graduate from 12th grade. That's not the time of year for the college application cycle here. You will have plenty of time to research all the Ivy schools and make decisions about whether to apply ED somewhere, or to wait for RD to apply to Harvard, Yale, Princeton (they do not offer ED as an option.)

If you're thinking of an ED application, sometime around August or September get started by submitting your SAT scores, getting letters of recommendation, work on writing a great essay. You will have a lot of time to get all this done, which is a nice luxury since most American students will be entering into their senior year classes and trying to juggle their college applications, visits to various campuses, interviews, etc. all at the same time.
