<p>I will be graduating with a mechanical engineering degree in Spring 2011. When do you think it is appropriate to begin applying for jobs? I have my resume complete I just need to find good time to begin the application process. There is one job that I REALLY want but I am worried that if I apply now then they won't like it.</p>
<p>Two of my sister in law’s just graduated with ME degrees. One had an internship and was hired full time before she graduated. The other waited until after graduation to start looking and is still looking. </p>
<p>If you haven’t had an internship, I think you will be at a disadvantage. I would start contacting businesses soon and ask them. See if you can get in touch with someone from HR and ask as many questions as you can. I think that now might be too early to acutally apply for a position that is listed, but you definitely need to start making contacts.</p>
<p>I’m in MN as well by the way. My sister in law with the job is working at General Dynamics.</p>
