Not sure if anyone actually reads this forum, but thought I'd give this a try:

My daughter is pumped to attend KSU starting NEXT fall (2012). The online app is already available, and she's completed it. What about housing? Seems to me it's first-come, first-served and there is a specific dorm she wants. Anyone know how early she can apply?

Has she already benn accepted to kent state ?
and if not then she has to wait to get accepted to choose housing and that stuff.
Im waiting to get accepted as transfer there in the spring so im pretty pumped myself.

She has applied but her application won’t be complete until her HS sends in her transcripts. But she is a strong candidate and I don’t think it will be a problem.

I have since found the answer to my question: you can apply for housing on Feb. 1.

Even current students do not get to actually choose their room until March 1st, and only after all of the upperclassmen are taken care of is freshmen housing assigned. Notification was pretty late when I was a freshman (mid May or so), but they’ve gotten earlier in the past year or two. So apply on February 1st and hope for the best! :)

Hello. As a current first-year KSU student I would like to say that the sooner you fill out and complete your housing form online the better. I completed my form about a week after they released it to the incoming freshman this time last year and I did indeed get the residence hall that I wanted.

I chose Korb Hall because a) it is located right behind Eastway complex (all freshman housing) b) it’s still a part of the FYE community c) it’s less crowded and hectic (has plenty of freshman in it still) and d) it has A/C whereas Eastway doesn’t. I loved having the a/c and it was one of the main reasons I chose Korb Hall honestly. When school starts it’s nice to have it in August/September when it is still hot out. I had a lot of friends come over to my room to just enjoy the A/C because they were sweating their butts off in Eastway and it was unbearable.

Anyone have any thoughts on Stopher/Johnson? It’s my daughter’s first choice. When we toured campus it looked to be a very nice dorm with a great room layout.
