When to apply to IU

Hi everyone,

I’m a rising senior in high school right now, and I wanted to apply to IU as soon as admissions were open (August 1st). I have been working on my essay for a few months now and I’m pretty satisfied with it as it is. The only problem is that I was just informed today that the teacher writing my college recommendation letter isn’t going to be able to finish by August 1st (even though she assured me when I asked her that she would be able to finish in time…). Now I can either:

a) Submit my application August 1st just without a teacher letter of recommendation
or
b) Submit my application when my teacher finishes writing the letter of recommendation

Any advice?

I think LORs are optional:

Can’t you send it in when it is complete?
